Artificial intelligence and Data science.

The international master’s degree program in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is implemented in cooperation with the University of South Bohemia and the Technischen Hochschule Deggendorf (Deggendorf Institute of Technology). The study program is designed for students who want to gain advanced knowledge in a specialized field of informatics, focusing primarily on artificial intelligence, neural networks, data analysis and processing (including work with the so-called Big Data). Students will gain both a deeper theoretical foundations (mathematical principles of artificial intelligence and data analysis) and practical skills necessary for the performance of future professions.

The programme is closely linked to cooperation with the commercial sphere, especially with partners in the region (BOSCH, BMW, Engel, and others), in which students also have the opportunity to perform a compulsory internship. During the internships and during the implementation of diploma theses, students are also available to top-equipped AI laboratories.

The language of instruction of the programme is English. However, students have the opportunity not only to further develop their communication skills in this language (through specialized courses with native speakers), but also take an introduction to regional languages (German or Czech), which will facilitate communication in everyday life and provide better conditions for potential employment in the region.

Directory:\Graduate Profile

Graduates of the cross-border joint degree MAID programme acquire specific knowledge, skills and competencies in specialized areas of applied informatics – artificial intelligence (machine learning methods, analysis and prediction) and data sciences (data mining, data analysis, large volume data processing, i.e. big data).

Their professional profile prepares them for analytical thinking and the ability to define demands in areas such as advanced neural networks, machine and deep learning methods, big data analyses and image processing, including aspects of Industry 4.0, and last but not least, in the area of life science. Graduates will develop these skills on the basis of solid knowledge in key areas of mathematics and computational intelligence, as well as the range of other specific skills in the areas of analytics and development or advanced data processing, which they will later appliy during compulsory internship in pre-selected companies that play a key role in the labour market of the border region.

Directory:\Benefits

Artificial intelligence and Data science.

Directory:\Knowledge

Knowledge of applied informatics, advanced knowledge of data processing, database technologies, including analysis, design and software development methods such as parallel algorithms implementation. In addition, they will acquire advanced knowledge of theoretical informatics, including neural networks, deep and machine learning, self-organizing system, and big data analysis and processing.

Directory:\Skills

Application of data processing tools and their implementation, functional modelling, application and service development. Advanced skills and abilities to analyze the problem and provide solutions based on an exceptional understanding of distributed algorithms, database modelling, and software engineering, including parallel processing. In addition, graduates will have practical skills that ensure an excellent understanding of machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, TensorFlow).

Directory:\Competencies

Comprehensive analysis of system behaviour, excellent orientation in implementation of Industry 4.0, including process optimization designs. In addition, graduates will be able to design analytical models and define use cases for autonomous systems, acting as advanced developers, analysts or system integrators. They will be able to analyse large data sets, develop data-driven prediction models or assess the applicability of various modelling and abstraction techniques.

The graduate´s profile is further developed in a laboratory specifically designed to support this study programme; a significant number of the students’ work will take place in this laboratory, mostly in the last semester. This compulsory work in the laboratory should be ideally linked to the student’s diploma thesis topic. The graduate will also acquire extraordinary communication skills in English, including the ability to write scientific papers in this language, which could be an advantage in the event of the decision to pursue a doctoral degree at universities not only in the Czech Republic, but mainly abroad. In addition, this study programme allows students to learn the cultures of both neighbouring countries, which will be further supported by completing compulsory courses in the national languages of both partners.

Library:\Graduates of the programme will be prepared for careers:

  • Machine Learning Scientist
  • Software Engineer – AI Specialist
  • System Architect – AI Specialist
  • Software Developer Specialist
  • Software Analyst
  • Data Scientist
  • Business Intelligence (BI) Developer
